I. Land Area

Per official records of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), the municipality of Manolo Fortich has a total land area of 42,556.04 hectares. This figure is 20 percent (20%) lower than the figure declared by the Bureau of Soils and Water Management (BSWM) which is 53,350 hectares and correspondingly used for any planning purposes.

II. Land Classification

As classified by the DENR, the municipality has a large expanse of alienable and disposable land covering 30,358.40 hectares or 71.34 percent of the total 42,556.04 hectares municipal area. The remaining 12,197.63 hectares or 28.66 percent are forest/timberland.

III. Climate

The climate in Manolo Fortich is ideal. It is classified as belonging to Type IV or Intermediate B. Its climate has been characterized by moderate dry seasons starting from the month of November to April and rest of the months as wet season with average rainfall of about 2,000 mm. Its temperature is relatively cool and humid.

IV. Topography and Slope

The municipality is dominantly composed of plateaus. It has deep canyons carved out from the rugged terrain by three (3) prominent rivers; the Tagoloan, Agusan and Mangima rivers. The central and southern portions of the municipality are partially covered with gently rolling hills and the barangays of Dahilayan, Guilang-guilang and Santiago have dense primeval forest cover. The highest elevation of the municipality is 1,979 meters above sea level which is Dahilayan while its lowest elevation of 257 meters above sea level which is Minsuro.

V. Soil

The soil in Manolo Fortich is predominantly clay due to large quantities of fine-grained volcanic rocks, various sedimentary derivatives and pyroclastics. An exception to these is found in river terraces that are loamy. The very deeply weathered reddish to yellowish-brown upland soils consists of 50% to 60% clay. Due to their non-expanding and non-cracking nature, the clays are presumed to be of Kaolinitix type.

There are actually five types of soil in the municipality, namely: Adtuyon clay, Alimodian clay, Faraon clay, Jasaan clay and Mountain soils. More than half of the municipality’s area is Adtuyon clay type of soil.

VI. Population

An official record from the NSO revealed that the municipality has an actual population of 82,051 for the year 2007. In year 2000, Manolo Fortich has a total of 74,252 population thus, increasing its population by 7,799 after seven (7) years . There was no actual census for household population but it can be estimated that as of CY 2007, total household population could approximately reached to 16,410 assuming that there are five (5) members in every household. VII. Income Classification

The municipality is classified by the Department of Finance as First Class municipality based on income classification. In CY 2009, the LGU has a total income of P145,361,521.32 wherein Internal Revenue Allotment amounted to P105,651,788.20 ; thus making the LGU as 73 % IRA dependent.

VIII. Priority Programs

1. Efficient and Affordable Water Supply

With the financial assistance extended from the provincial government and the Congressman of the First District of Bukidnon, we were able to improve and rehabilitate the water systems of our barangays.

2. Strengthen the Municipal Economic Enterprise

The strengthening the economic enterprise serves as backbone of our local economy. It is composed of the Municipal Slaughterhouse , Mangima Springs and Country Park, Municipal Motorpool & Heavy Equipment and the Municipal Market . We need to continuously maintain and enhance the services of our economic enterprises so that the LGU will have better income to yield through maximizing our local resources.

3. Real Quality Public Service

Real Quality Public ServiceOne of the noteworthy top ten priorities of the administration is the Real Quality Public Service (RQPS) bearing a theme, ”Bringing the Government closer to the People”. This is a sustained and continuous scheduled barangay outreach program for all 22 barangays. Concerned offices are directed to participate for a full delivery of various public services. The following services are as follows:

4. 24 Oras Serbisyo Publiko Program

This program was conceptualized in order to provide public service beyond regular office hours to the constituents. This 24-hour access program is created to readily respond to both emergency and non-emergency cases. The availability of a landline telephone and VHF radio would provide easy access to information for our constituents. A rescue team known as Respond Quickly Rescue Team (RQRT) is task to respond during emergency cases. A comprehensive training for qualified rescuers were provided and it was participated in by the key personnel from PNP, BFP, DILG, MHO and other selected local offices.

5. Effective Education Program

Thru the Local School Board, we were able to streamline needed action to implement and support various projects/programs appropriated under the Special Education Fund (SEF). We aimed to provide quality and affordable tertiary and vocational education for our people. We have passed an SB Resolution requesting the Congressman of the First District of Bukidnon, Hon. Candido P. Pancrudo for a passage of a house bill making the existing Northern Bukidnon Community College (NBCC) to become Bukidnon State University-Manolo Fortich Campus and provide adequate funding thereof from the national coffers.

6. Effective Agriculture Program

Being an agriculture municipality, wherein most of our people depends their livelihood on farming, the Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO) in coordination with key offices has implemented these programs/projects/activities.

7. Sports and Physical Fitness Program

A strengthened Municipal Sports Committee is created through the issuance of Executive No. 23-2007. The active participation of the committee has resulted a timely and useful Municipal Sports Development Plan for 3- year period.

8. Strong and Effective Local Special Bodies

In view of having a strong and effective planning and formulation of all our local programs/projects/activities, we believe that re-organizing and re-activating our Local Special Bodies would enable us to have a comprehensive and practical P/P/A’s.

9. Human Resource Development

Internal adjustments and re-organization were done among local offices and its employees. On the other hand, Human Resource Development would also mean encouraging the locales to participate in all LGU programs and thrusts, paving the creation of the Revitalized Quest for Towards Total Community Development (RQTTCD). He believes in the value of investing human resources and in providing them the needed opportunities for social and moral growth. He stressed out that the progress of our town depends largely on the participation and cooperation of the members of the community.

10. Investment Promotion

Promoting the municipality through provision of good infrastructure is one of our means to attract investors to situate their businesses in Manolo Fortich.
