I. MUNICIPAL OVERVIEW
Manolo Fortich, dubbed as the “first pineapple plantation in the Far East” is an agricultural municipality that is gradually shifting into an agro-industrial community. It is located 55 kilometers away from Malaybalay City, the provincial capital and only 35 kilometers from the major commercial and trading center of the region, which is Cagayan de Oro city. A major producer of corn, cassava, rice, pineapple, high-valued vegetables, coffee, oranges, rambutan, poultry, hog and cattle, cut flowers, strategically positions Manolo Fortich as the “agro-industrial investment haven”.
Large and medium firms operating are into production or processing of these agricultural products; Del Monte Philipines, Inc. (DMPI), Lapanday Diversified Products Corporation, Paras Mountain Resort and C.P Flori Farms (cut foliage farms), Valley Fresh Farm (high-valued vegetables), TIP hatchery, Tyson Agro-Ventures, Helms Agri-business, MENZI Agricultural Corporation, Swift Foods Inc. Another large firm who is into processing of non-agricultural product is the Republic Biscuit Corporation (REBISCO).
