Organic Farming

Brief Description:
Although part of the usual programs of the Municipal Agriculture Office, Organic Farming is given a separate emphasis for the fact that the towns economy and food production relies greatly on its farmers. This aimed at making organic farming as a way of life for farmers to increase income, alleviate lives and support environmental sustainability.
Objective:
Introduce economical technologies through the use of safer fertilizer and enhance livelihood by less expense input but profitable produce.
Accomplishments:
- 400 bags of organic fertilizers were already distributed to 39 farmers in the highland barangays of Dahilayan, Kalugmanan & Lindaban.
- Two (2) demos were conducted at Dahilayan and Lindaban on Lettuce and Sweet Peace Production.
- A communal garden using Trichoderma compost fertilizer was also established in barangay Lindaban.
- Demonstration of the Bio-N fertilizers in 6 barangays like Lindaban, Tankulan, Dahilayan, Lingi-on, Sankanan & Mampayag were conducted already to ensure that the farmers are well equipped with proper technology.
- Monitored 1,000 farmers sustaining Organic Farming on Corn and Vegetables (500 has) using semi-organic farming.
- Conducted 6 demos on Vermi Composting
- Conducted 10 Farmers Classes
- Distributed HVCC Cross commodity seeds & organic fertilizers to vegetable growers.
- Acquired Grasscutter/Shredder to produce quality composting.
